A Brief History...
Maranatha Baptist Church began in the home of Bro. and Sis. Webster.
Bro. Alex Moon became the first pastor.
The church began to remodel an old store. Services were held at that location (a few miles away) for approximately three years. Preparations were made to begin construction on a new sanctuary.
A Ground Breaking service was held on June 15, 1994.
The first service was held on Christmas Day of 1994.
Bro. Harold Gaines, Bro. Roger Hardy, Bro. Al Frix, and Bro. Daryl Wells
have served as Pastors.
Kimberly Houston, Marie Parks, and Gary Holloway were some of
the first people to be Baptized.
Bro. Kevin Page began pastoring in April of 2003.
In 2004 the church voted to build a new fellowship building with additional Sunday School rooms. Construction was completed in 2005 with the first meal being a Valentine's Dinner. After completion of the fellowship building the basement was remodeled with more Sunday School rooms.
In 2009 construction was completed on a Pavilion built behind the Fellowship building.
The Pavilion was first used for our Fourth of July Celebration 2009.
As we look back on what God has done for Maranatha Baptist Church , we are thankful for His blessings and are excited to see what his plans are for the future of our church. God's provision for the past shows us that through faithfulness, prayer and God's guidance the Great Commission can be fulfilled.
